Low Sperm Count or Oligospermia
Definition
If the sperm count in semen is less than 15 million per millilitre, this is called oligospermia.
Types of Oligospermia
There are mainly three types of oligospermia:
- When the sperm count is very low, i.e. below 15 million per millilitre.
- When the sperm count is 100 million per millilitre but the active motility is very low, i.e. below 50%.
- When the sperm count is 100 million per millilitre but the morphology of the sperm is not good, i.e. they have no tail or have head abnormalities.
Causes of Low Sperm Count (Oligospermia)
- Varicocele can cause oligospermia due to abnormal testicular temperature.
- Some bacterial and viral infections can also cause oligospermia, such as gonorrhoea or mumps.
- Hormonal imbalances, such as problems with the pituitary or hypothalamus, can cause oligospermia.
- Obstruction of the vas deferens due to injury, infection or tumour can also cause oligospermia.
- Some medicines, such as anabolic steroids, antifungal medicines and antibiotics, can also cause oligospermia.
- Exposure to industrial chemicals, heavy metals and X-ray radiation can also cause oligospermia.
- Alcohol, tobacco, depression and being overweight can also cause oligospermia.
Treatment
At Sanjivani Clinic, we treat oligospermia with Ayurvedic medicine.
- These medicines are purely herbal, and no hormonal therapy is given.
- We also suggest the best diet to the patient according to his body nature, weather and the place where he lives because every person's body responds differently according to its nature.
- Some people respond better to certain herbal medicines, so we prescribe medicines according to the weather, place of residence and body nature.
- We take a complete medical and personal history of every patient according to his body nature and then select the best Ayurvedic medicine to help cure all kinds of sexual weakness.
